fiddle-a-doodle-do

I had my first violin class yesterday. Bought a fairly cheap one too (Chinese made), but its more than enough for beginngers. The teacher is an old lady who specializes in Carnatic music (Vocals and Violin). A lot of information on the Carnatic music went over my head. Should be able to deal with this better in the coming days. When I am ready to play one of the raagas or tunes, should be able to post that piece.

Books on Probability Theory

I am going ground-up to get my basics right with probability. One of the free online book I came across seems to be a good find."Introduction to Probability ", by Charles Grinstead and Laurie Shell. Check this link for more resources.

Cool, sounds like an intresting new hobby! People these days go for a (relatively) easier instrument, Guitar. Any specific reason to choose violin?

I do like classical music. It was about time I attempted something serious. Guitar is relatively easy. I can somehow manage that with some practice. Mom's learning Veena...guess that's where the influence comes from :D
