Movie Review
Title: Departures (Japanese)
Genre: Drama
Rating: 4/5
I didn't know this one had won an Oscar in the best foreign film category. Its a lovely movie.
The male protagonist lands up in a job which deals with performing post-death rituals such as cleaning the deceased, changing their clothes, dressing them up..basically preparing them for their final journey after death. The process is itself quite elaborately shown in the movie. A lot of human emotions about death and the profession he is in is what is highlighted in this movie.
The movie has its poignant moments which can make one's eyes moist.
No wonder, the girl on my left, the girl on my right (which is my wife) and a girl behind were all *sob sob*
I heard this movie took 10 years in the making and the hero's wife Ryoko-Hirosue(a very cute girl), the Japanese actress is a pop singer as well.
